Weekend rainfall trumps total for the whole of February

MORE rain fell in Skegness on Sunday than for the entire month of February, a local weatherman has recorded.

Brian Porter recorded 23mm of rainfall on Sunday, 6mm more than he had registered for the whole of February.

The dry month, which has prompted drought warnings throughout the country, was less than half the recorded levels of precipitation in either of the two preceding years.

However Mr Porter believes that the country will need torrential rain throughout the whole of March if it is to replenish the water tables and stave off any hosepipe ban.
