WI - Members of Friskney WI were given a talk about Coastwatch by Capt Chris Lines at the recent February meeting.

His illustrated talk described the duties of the group.

Their ‘eyes along the coast’ have helped to avoid several incidents.

The group are not permitted to call emergency services, but have to report any potential problems to the Coastguard, who take appropriate action.

The latest monthly raffle was won by Pam Middleton.

The competition for a seashell was won by Maureen Holmes, with Hilary Jarvis and Gwen Hicks as runners-up. The flower competition was also won by Maureen Holmes, with Ann Kirk in second and Hilary Jarvis in third place.

The WI’s next meeting, on Tuesday, March 13, will be the Annual Meeting Night.

There will be a Faith supper after the formal business.

April’s meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 10, when the speaker will be Joy Taylor, who will discuss “The Life and Monologues of Joyce Grenfell’.

Both meetings will begin at 7.30pm in Friskney Village Hall. Visitors are welcome.
