NEW YEAR’S EVE - A New Year’s Eve buffet, organised by Chris Bassford of the Monday Club, was attended by more than 50 people.

The entertainer was Stevie H who, as well as singing, also played music for dancing.

The origins of first footing were explained by Nora Coles.

During the evening a raffle was held which raised £80, which was added to the £220 raised during the year by the Monday Club.

This has resulted in a cheque for £300 being sent to the village of Enham Alamein in Hampshire, which the Monday Club has visited.

The village was originally named Enham but after the war many soldiers who had been injured at El Alamein were brought there to a disabled ex-service men’s recovery centre. Later the village was renamed Enham Alamein.

Today the charity still provides care and work for disabled people.

Chris Bassford expressed her thanks to members and friends of the Monday Club for help and support.

Chris also thanked the entertainer and all who attended the event, which it is hoped will be the first of many.
