COMEDY - Burgh Baptist Church will be hosting a night of comedy and entertainment with television comedian-magician John Archer, on Saturday, April 27, at 7pm in the Village Hall.

Tickets are still available at £10 each and include a curry meal. Please bring your own bottle or drink.

COUNCIL - The Town Council will hold its next surgery at Burgh Library, High Street, on Tuesday, April 23, from 10am to 1pm.

Residents are welcome to come along to ask questions or raise issues, which will then be brought to the attention of full Council, at its meeting on Friday April 26 at 7pm in the Wesley Room, Burgh Methodist Church, Jackson’s Lane.

During surgery hours, the library is also open to the public for returning or signing out books and using the computers.

DANCE - The recent Tea Dance in the WI Hall has been hailed a success, with thirty people attending.

The event raised £100 for the Air Ambulance.

The next dance is on Thursday, May 9, from 3pm to 5pm. Admission is £3, inclusive of refreshments.

GARDEN - The next meeting of the Burgh Garden Club is on Wednesday, April 24, at the Burgh Baptist Church, starting at 7.30 pm.

The guest speaker is Loretta Rivett on The Cottage Garden. All will be welcome, with refreshments available.

PARADE - There will be a St George’s Day Parade service at the Parish church of St Peter and Paul this Sunday, April 21, at 2pm.

PHOENIX - The Phoenix Group offers support and friendship for those facing loneliness from various circumstances, and prayer is available if desired.

The group also enjoy outings to different venues and guest speakers from time to time.

WI - ‘Painting for All’ was the subject at the April WI meeting, with speaker Caroline Johnson.

It was an hilarious time, with everyone painting a palm tree using acrylic paints.

These were then judged and the winner was June Hynd. Caroline then gave a brief talk about the healing properties of certain herbs.

Members were given a short resume of the AGM of Lincolnshire North Federation of the WI, which was held at the Embassy Theatre in Skegness, when the speaker was Adam Henson, a member of the BBC television Countryfile programme .

A reminder was given of the Balderdash evening on April 26 at Burgh WI Hall at 7.15pm. Also, the Spring Fair is on May 18 and a coffee evening on August 28 at Diane Garwood’s home.

The competition winners were. Bloom of the month, Linda Swatton, Mary Barnes and Audrey Chatterton.

The next meeting will be held on May 1, when the speaker will be James Forrister from Snipe Dales.

YOUTH - Burgh Baptist Church’s youth programmes offer weekday fun for all ages.

Impact chills out on Mondays at 6.30pm for year six and up, Kings Club meets on Tuesdays at 6pm for reception to year five, and Little Treasures parents and toddlers gather on Thursdays at 1.30pm.
