Village News: Burgh le Marsh

REMEMBRANCE - Father Terry welcomed a large congregation, which included the Mayor and Mayoress, members of the Town Council, Royal British Legion and Uniformed organisations, to a Remembrance Sunday service in the parish church of St Peter and Paul.

Several of the junior uniformed organisations took part in the readings.

Afterwards at the War Memorial the Mayor Coun Alan Middleton laid a wreath on behalf of the Town Council and Brian Bogg on behalf of the Royal British Legion.

Wreaths were also laid by representatives of the various organisations. The Standard Bearer for the Royal British Legion was Ian Lyall and the Bugler was Eric Vaughan. Flags were lowered for the two minutes’ silence.

AUCTION - A reminder of the charity auction of quality items and household effects at Burgh Baptist church this Saturday, November 17.

Viewing is from 1pm and the auction starts at 2pm.

Proceeds are in aid of the new church build project and donations of quality items are gladly accepted. Tea and coffee will be served.

CHRISTMAS FAYRE - Burgh Methodist Church will hold its annual Christmas Fayre on Saturday, November 24 from 2 to 4pm.

Various stalls will be on site, including a tombola, raffle, refreshments etc.

Everyone is welcome, so do come along and share in this happy festive occasion.

HISTORY - The ‘Festival of Britain’ will be the subject at the Burgh History Group meeting next Monday, November 19 at 7.30pm in the Windmill tea room.

Please note, there is a change to the planned speaker for the following Monday, November 26. It will now be John Panton, with slides of China.

SAUSAGE - A reminder of the sausage and mash supper and entertainment in the village hall this Saturday, November 17 at 7pm. Tickets priced £5 are available from Chris Bassford or Misty Culpin. Proceeds to the Poppy fund.

SHOPPING - There are still a few seats available on the Burgh Monday Club shopping trip to Doncaster on Wednesday, November 21; leaving Burgh at 9am.
