Hundreds of Santas took to Skegness seafront on Sunday for the annual festive fun run.

The Jolly Fisherman and Skegness Mayor George Saxon were at the start line to encourage the Santas in their pre-run warm-up led by Fresh Fitness Gym staff.

The event is organised by the Rotary Club of Skegness and it is hoped £2,000 has been raised for the Air Ambulance and local charities.

Some 274 Santa suited runners were started off by the Pantomime Dame from the Embassy Theatre production Jack and the Beanstalk as they charged towards the Clock Tower.

The first past the post back at the Lifeboat Station was presented with a family ticket for the pantomime, kindly donated by the Embassy Centre.

All finishers were also presented with a medal.

Fresh Fitness sponsored the event and there was an entrants’ lucky number draw for a three month gym membership - with Santa number 116 winning.

Among those taking part were almost 30 boarders from Wainfleet Hall, the Boarding House of Skegness Grammar School. All were raising money to buy wheelchairs for the Rotary charity The Wheelchair Foundation.
