Dr Phillip Smith, principal at Outwood Academy Portland has praised ‘outstanding teaching’ and ‘hard-working students’ for the excellent GCSE results obtained by the school.

While the national trend has seen a slight drop in results across the country, at Portland, the pass rate has risen again.

“It’s been outstanding as usual, the results have gone up again and it’s down to outstanding teaching day in day out and students that are so committed,” he said.
