Trio charged in connection with the alleged defrauding of a Chapel St Leonards pensioner of £484,000 life-savings by her neighbours.

A police statement confirmed that the charges had been made following an investigation by Skegness CID.

Jason Bentley, 43, and Rebecca Jayne Bentley, 43, both of Elliott Way, Chapel St Leonards, have both been charged with fraud by abuse of position between December 29, 2008, and March 5, 2015.

Denise Philbin, 65, of Connaught Drive, Chapel St Leonards, has been charged with theft between September 1, 2013, and September 20, 2013.

Mark Smith, 46, of The Meadows, Skegness, has been charged with perverting the course of justice in relation to providing false statements about his financial relationship with Jason Bentley.

They will appear at Skegness Magistrates on November 3.
