The Mayor of Skegness has said ‘everyone’s thoughts go out to the family and friends’ of the victim of what is now a murder investigation today.
The body of a 28-year-old woman found in Drummond Road on Friday night has been confirmed to be believed to be Leonuta Ioana Haidemac by police.
Mayor of Skegness Coun Dick Edginton said: “I think it’s horrific. We’re not used to this type of thing in Skegness.
“I’m horrified to think that someone has lost their life under these sorts of circumstances.
“Everyones thoughts go out to the family and friends of the victim.”
Ms Haidemac lived in Lincoln but was last seen in Skegness at 10pm on Wednesday, when she was dropped off on Drummond Road.
She also has links to Boston, where she has relatives, but when she went missing it was reported that none of her friends and family had seen her.
Tributes have already started being posted on social media.
Colin Ross wrote on the Skegness Standard Facebook: “Such a tragedy deepest sympathies to her friends and family.“
Lynne Sollis wrote: “RIP young lady.”
A 29-year-old man from Skegness in now in custody on suspicion of murder and is being interviewed by detectives from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit and Lincolnshire Police.
Boston and Skegness MP Matt Warman said: “I’ve been in close contact with the police over the last couple of days and I would echo the words of the police statement.
“It is of course to be welcomed that an arrest has been made, and while I can’t comment on the details of this specific, open case I will continue to emphasise the unique pressures on Lincolnshire Constabulary to ministers in London to ensure that all the resources needed are available.”
