Two call-outs for Skegness RNLI

A BARGE grounded on a sandbank in the Wash resulted in another call-out for the Skegness RNLI on Monday.

The 70ft long Dutch vessel ran aground approximately seven miles south east of Skegness as it was heading towards the Norfolk coast.

As the all weather lifeboat, Lincolnshire Poacher, approached the stranded barge, she was able to work herself free from the sandbank.

Coastguards requested the lifeboat continue to escort the vessel towards its destination before returning to the station later that afternoon.

Meanwhile, closer to dry land, the RNLI’s onshore lifeboat, Peterborough Beer Festival IV, responded to a call-out to locate a missing child.

The youngster had been reported missing from Skegness Central Beach but was found safe and well shortly after the inshore lifeboat had launched.
