A TRAFFIC experiment intended to ease congestion in Ingoldmells has proved unsuccessful because motorists have ignored the signs.
A right turn ban on Roman Bank, preventing motorists from turning onto Sea Lane to cut queues, will come to a close on March 31.
Space limitations meant that the traffic system could only be implemented through signs rather than any physical barriers, which most motorists have simply ignored.
Projects manager Graeme Butler said: “We’ll now look at other options instead to help keep people moving through the town. We realise there’s nothing worse than being stuck in a traffic jam, especially when most families, I’m sure, would much prefer to be on the beach enjoying the sunshine.”
