Burgh teen in intensive care after moped crash; police issue appeal for information

Lincolnshire Police have issued an urgent appeal for witnesses and information after a moped crash left a Burgh teen in intensive care.

The local force made the appeal last night (Thursday) following a collision between the moped and a car on the B1196 Hanby Lane, Welton le Marsh on Wednesday evening.

The crash occurred at around 5.40pm on Wednesday. The moped involved was a white Rieju make and the car was a red Renault Megane.

“The moped rider was a 16-year-old boy from Burgh Le Marsh - he was taken to Pilgrim Hospital and later transferred to the Queens Medical Centre with leg, pelvic and chest injuries. He underwent surgery,” said a spokesperson.

At the time of the last update on his condition yesterday evening, the boy was “still in intensive care”.

The police spokesperson continued: “PC Gared Thorp of the Roads Policing unit in Lincoln is investigating the collision.

“He is appealing for witnesses to contact him via the collision hotline 01522 558855. No one else was reported to have been injured.

“The road reopened at just after 1pm on Thursday.”
