Police attended Lumley Road today (Wednesday, May 15) when roof tiles fell to the ground during high winds.
Tiles fell from above the Bon Marché store and police attended to make the area safe and to ensure none fell on passers by.
No one has been reported hurt in the incident.
East Lindsey District Councils Building Control department, ‘Lincs Building Consultancy’ were notified this morning that some roof slates had blown from the roof above the store.
The area surrounding the building was secured to ensure the safety of passing pedestrians.
Paul Smith, Building Control Team Leader said: “As soon as we were notified, our Surveyors were in attendance and have made the area safe. The fencing will remain in place until the building owner carries out repairs to the roof.”
East Lindsey District Council has no timescale for the repairs, as it is the building owners responsibility to carry out the works.
The Bon Marché store is currently closed.
A spokesman for Bon Marché said: “ We can confirm that the Skegness store is currently closed due to high winds. The Company regards safety with utmost importance and has taken this precautionary measure in order to investigate.”
