Sunny weather and willing volunteers provided the perfect combination for a couple of successful beach clean ups at the weekend.
Teams took to the sands armed with plastic bags, grabbers and spades at Skegness and Winthorpe on Saturday to lend a hand.
The community event, organised by Coastal Access For All, was part of of Marine Conservation Society’s Big Summer Beach Clean weekend.
Help was provided by Skegness Army Cadets, town manager Lisa Collins and Skegness Aquarium staff. More than 100 plastic bags were removed from the two beaches. Other items collected included broken glass, bottles, fishing line, a kite, plastic flower and contact lens.
A survey carried out for the Marine Conservation Society recorded the rubbish collected which will form part of report sent to the Government.
