After a great season for Swifts under 15s it all came down to the their crunch game at Woodhall Spa.

The game was a very nerve-racking moment for both manager Paul Windle and coach Michael Howard, as the pair had not slept for day’s in anticipation of the big game.

But the management team and the players were delighted when the team, struggling for success in recent years, managed to win the game 3-2, thanks to a penalty which was awarded in the last two minutes of the game.

Up stepped one of the leagues top goal scorers, Sam Green, who scored the winning goal.

“It’s cruel to lose a game like this, but someone has to win,” said manager Paul.

“This season has been great for me and Michael. Having to work and run a team is not easy, but all the hard work worked out in the end, as we won the league with the team scoring an impressive 125 goals and only letting in 31.”

“Top goal scorers for us were Sam Green and Jack Bradley, but its not all about scoring, you have to give credit to the rest of the team. I’m not going to mention everyone by name, but it’s been a real team effort this season,” he added.

Paul also thanked wife Trudi for all her help during the season and coach Michael’s wife Natasha.

He also praised the parents of the players who supported the team at games, ‘come rain or shine’ and last of all the football club for allowing them to be part of the club and Darren and Debbie Green for sponsoring the team.
