Sixth form students in Skegness who feared they wouldn’t be able to celebrate the end of school life at A Night At The Movies prom, have had a happy ending after all – thanks to Skegness Standard readers.
Mum Irene Jackson called us in May because her twin daughters, Aliscia and Mia, who attend Skegness Academy, had bought their dresses but were left with no-where to go when the Academy pulled the plug on a school event due to lack of numbers.
However, Mrs Jackson was determined they deserved a prom and set about organising one herself, which has now taken place at the Northshore Hotel. She said: “It wouldn’t have happened without the story in the Skegness Standard so I wanted to say thank you. Because of the article we had a DJ and a photo booth and I want to thank everyone who helped us.
“It would have been nice to see a few more there. But the atmosphere was electric and there was plenty of food.”
