Stars of Skegness' businesses set to shine

The fourth annual Skegness Business Awards are being hosted at the Seaview Park Hotel on Friday.

Organised by the newly-formed Skegness Area Business Chamber and with Hodgkinsons Solicitors as headline sponsor, they are designed to recognise the very best of Skegness.

There are 10 categories - including Best Place to Eat which was voted for online - and this year’s event is bigger than ever, said Chamber secretary Judy Chapman.

“The response has been amazing,” said Judy. “We had 15 entries in the new businesses category and when we started, with the recession, it was a hard one to get off the ground.

“Choosing the winners has been very tough for the judges, too - the standards have been very high, which is a credit to the local business community. Their hard work and commitment shines through.”

Paul Dixon, Chair of the Skegness Area Business Chamber, said: “The businesses that support thousands of local jobs, that provide goods and services that we all value, in my view have some of the hardest working people at the helm. Our community is the most committed and local people volunteer in so many areas that they really do make Skegness special.
