Spilsby Panto group celebrating 25th anniversary

The Spilsby Amateur Pantomime Society is 25 years old this year.

The Society has lain dormant for much of that time due to lack of venues in which to perform but was reinstituted three years ago at the Spilsby Theatre with six performances of Jack Bean and the Vegetable Plot.

This year the Spilsby Amatuer Society are celebrating with a season of Cinderella and the Frog, performed for the first time at the King Edward VI Academy, in Spilsby, from February 18 to 22.

“The society have been astonished at the level of interest from the people in the area, with every panto so well supported and, hopefully, thoroughly enjoyed”, said SLAPS chairman, Mike Morgan, However, seats are still available for the mid-week performances.

“So much work and enthusiasm goes into each production, from the director and cast, the musicians and the back-room seamstresses and technical wizards”, added Mike.

“We are delighted this year to have so many young performers in the cast who take leading roles but we are always on the look-out for new talent.

“We are especially in need of an experienced Stage Manager and Wardrobe Mistress for next year’s panto and we are planning some social read-throughs in April and May where people can come to find out more about us,” explained Mike

“The annual panto has turned into a much-loved local institution and we hope, with your help, to keep it running for many years to come,” he said.
