Skegness U3A members enjoyed a talk about hot air ballooning at their September meeting.

Dawn Rivers explained that the first hot air balloon flew from Lyon to Paris in 1784.

She described the materials which are used, adding that the baskets are always made from willow and the bag is called an envelope.

“There were some wonderful shots of balloons in different shapes and sizes and in different locations both abroad and in this country including Spilsby,” said a spokesperson.

Mick Webb gave the vote of thanks.

At the meeting on Wednesday, October 16 the guest speaker will be Alan Bolt with songs and guitar. Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month at the Storehouse on North Parade, Skegness at 9.30am.
