Skegness U3A members at flood defence talk

ENVIRONMENTAL Agency staff members discussed the area’s flood defences at the latest meeting of Skegness U3A last week.

The agency’s local coastal team Gemma Mitchell and Chris Nobel explained how sea levels are monitored and discussed the sea defences which had been established since the 1953 floods.

“Useful advice was given and members were encouraged to sign up to the Personal Flood Plan,” said a spokesperson.

“This is a free service and in the event of a flood warning those registered would receive advice by phone, text, pager, email and fax.
