A LOVING grandson hopes to raise thousands to help fight the disease that took his grandfather’s life with an epic 192 mile pier-to-pier charity walk.
Dean Williams, 25, will leave Skegness Pier on Friday morning heading across the country towards his home town of Blackpool, where he hopes to arrive just 80 hours later. He has enlisted the help of three loyal friends, Ben Patterson, 22, Ryan Thornton, 25 and Vicky McMahon, 23.
Together they hope to raise £2,000 for Cancer Research in memory of Dean’s grandfather, Clem Morris, who died from the disease on a leap year eight years ago.
Dean said: “I’m pretty nervous because it’s all come round fairly quick. We only decided to do this 10 weeks ago so it’s very scary but exciting at the same time.
“I think the challenge is going to be more mental than physical, so I’ve got to push myself but I will have my granddad looking down on me, dragging me along.”
The charitable walkers have set themselves a relentless schedule with only one over-night break during the 80 hour adventure. Previously, the group have teamed up to support Help 4 Heroes in memory of Ryan’s brother, who died in Iraq.
