Police in Skegness have thanked the various organisations, groups and individuals who helped out during the height of last night’s storm surge.

Locally, the force received help from a number of organisations.

Stagecoach allowed the force to use their buses in Chapel St Leonards and in Boston, while the Southview Hotel offered their Hamilton Suite to local residents, if required

Skegness Academy also offered the use of their building, if required, while the Ingoldmells and Chapel St Leonards Village Halls gave some local residents shelter.

A number of people also gave their time to clear the roads of fallen trees.

“All of your offers, and assistance, was greatly appreciated by us all and I am sure this is echoed by the other emergency services. Thank you,” said a spokesperson for Skegness Police Station.
