Skegness groups in grant help

CHARITIES, community groups and sporting clubs based in Skegness have been invited to apply for funding grants from the town council.

The council’s latest budget revealed that half way through the financial year less than a quarter of the money it had allocated to community grants had been spent.

Councillors at a business and resources committee meeting last Wednesday requested the availability of funding grants to be publicised.

Speaking after the meeting, Mayor of Skegness Coun Steve Kirk said: “Anything that is based in Skegness is welcome to apply, charities, sporting clubs, scouting groups that are trying to organise a trip somewhere - anything.

“In the past we’ve supported the carnival, Skegness Air Training Corps, Coastwatch, the list goes on and on.”
