A couple have been left stranded in New York after their baby son was born 11 weeks early during a Christmas holiday in the city.
Katie Amos and Lee Johnston were expecting to enjoy a few days away over the festive season before the birth of baby Dax.
The couple had left their home in Burgh le Marsh on Boxing Day but Katie went into Labour two days later.
Dax weighs just 3lbs and the family will not be able to return home for up to three months.
Katie and Dax will be staying at the Lenox Hill Hospital until they are ready to make the trip home.
Lee, 29, is a personal trainer at New Era Gym in Skegness where Katie, 30, runs fitness classes.
Colleagues at the gym are running a fund-raising campaign to help the couple.
Writing on Facebook Lee said: “Katie and I had our baby boy at 8.30pm weighing 3lbs he is 11 weeks early and we are in New York still he is doing great and so is Katie but we can’t return home for up to 2-3 months. The love for your family is the strongest thing in the world and no matter what life throws at you it will only make it stronger.”
