Visitors to Skegness Aquarium today have been met with much excitement following the arrival of a Christmas baby seahorse.
The sea horse was born at the aquarium in Tower Esplanade on Boxing Day.
Stacey Adams, curator in the zoological department, said: “We were hoping it would be born on Christmas Day, but in the end it was on Boxing Day.
“Its parent is a male seahorse and it’s very tiny. The baby can’t be seen by the public at the moment and will stay in quarantine for the time being.“
However, visitors will be able to see the aquarium’s other pregnant male. Stacey said: “We are keeping our fingers crossed it will be born on New Year’s Day.
“But dad is very big so it could be sooner.“
