A HAPPY couple will be celebrating their Diamond Wedding anniversary tomorrow.

Margaret Lawson, 82, and husband Roy, 81, were friends as children and then went on to marry in 1952 when the ceremony was held at St Mary’s Church in Old Leake.

The pair spent their honeymoon in London after enjoying a large white wedding and a reception at the village hall.

The couple set up home in Butterwick near Boston where they had a daughter in 1953 called Jean and then Angela followed in 1962.

The family later moved to Frithbank and Cowbridge near Boston before finally settling in Skegness.

Jean and husband Ray have sons, Adrick, 28, Kieron, 24, and Angela and husband Alan have daughter Nikki, 22, and Jack, 19. They also had a daughter called Lucy who sadly died aged 15 weeks.

Over the years, Roy was a keen cyclist and was part of the Boston Wheelers. He also enjoyed working as a mechanic at the garage in Butterwick.

Margaret worked in a local shop and a grocers store until having children where she also helped at the garage. Community events and clubs also played a big part in her life which were held at the Butterwick village Hall.

The pair also enjoyed holidaying, which is one of the reasons why, they chose to move to Sorby Court in Skegness.

Friends and family are set to join the couple to celebrate the event at the Northshore Hotel on Saturday and a small marking of the occasions will be held at the Skegness Day Centre.
