A kind-hearted young girl and her friends have helped to raise hundreds of pounds for the St Barnaba’s Hospice after she was inspired by the help it gave to her relatives in their final months.
Brooke Verheul, 9, took it upon herself to organise the event with six of her friends .
Their efforts generated £652.
“She held a sponsored silence in memory of her two nannies and my father who were so well looked after by St Barnaba’s local hospital when they all became ill and sadly passed away over the last couple of years,” said Lucy Crow, whose daughter also took part.
“She had six of her friends to do it with her, including her sister and niece and my daughter, and they all got sponsors.
“Between them and, along with a raffle which was all held at The Welcome Inn on November 9, she has raised £652.
“I think it’s a wonderful thing and a fantastic amount,” she added.
