The Hildreds Shopping Centre in Skegness is hosting a Public Health England roadshow for people suffering with breathlessness next week.
The event aims to help raise awareness in a bid to reduce the number of undiagnosed cases and to ensure patients can receive appropriate treatment.
Leaflets will be distributed providing information on breathlessness, and associated health conditions, and a nurse will be on hand to offer advice.
The road show will also encourage people to look out for signs of breathlessness in family members or friends and encourage those who feel short of breath to visit their GP.
Interim centre director and public health consultant for health improvement Catherine Goodall said: “The roadshows give us an opportunity to talk to people in the community and raise awareness of the symptoms of lung and heart disease, which includes breathlessness.
“We will have experts on hand to answer questions and provide information and advice, not only to people who may have experienced breathlessness but to family, friends and carers who may need support to encourage their loved ones to visit their GP. We hope that we can reduce the latest shocking statistics which reveal there are a considerable number of people in the East of England who are living with undiagnosed heart or lung disease because they aren’t aware of some of the signs.”
The road show is taking place at the shopping centre on Briar Way from Monday 16 to Wednesday February, 18.
