401 Challenge marathon runners were horrified when a shivering puppy crawled out from under a car along the 26-mile route in Skegness.
The pup, temporarily called Ben after Ben Smith who took the challenge to resort, was found in Drummond Road yesterday and taken to Fenwold vets to check if he was microchipped.

A picture of him posted on the 401 Challenge Facebook page won the hearts of Ben’s supporters.
However, in spite of suggestions he should become the 401 Challenge dog, the owner by chance called Fenwold and was reunited with the pup.
Kirstee Porter said on Facebook: “So glad he’s found his way home all safe and sound. How terrified must the little man have felt! Thank you for caring for him and giving him that cuddle he probably needed more than anything in the world. I bet his owners are so grateful to you all right now - I know I would be.”
