The Skegness Seasiders bus fleet will be making their debut in the town’s summer carnival this weekend.

Rocky will lead the family of six open-top buses, with Candy, Sandy, Shelly, Pierre and Salty joining Sunday’s Carnival Parade.

The Seasiders have become a regular feature of Skegness seafront since being unveiled in the town at Easter. The Carnival Parade will be the first time that all six have come together in public.

It will be a special day for Seathorne Primary School pupil Poppy Bagnall who won a competition in The Standard to design the sixth bus, Salty the Seasider.

The eight-year-old only found out she had won when the newly-designed Salty arrived at her school during an assembly last term.

Stagecoach East Midlands managing director Michelle Hargreaves said: “We want to encourage residents and holidaymakers to use public transport and save money, whilst adding to the colour and vibrancy of the seafront.

“The Seasiders offer a fun and easy way to get about, with no parking hassles and money off lots of local attractions.

“Tourism is vital to Skegness and we want to play our part in supporting what is a brilliant family destination.”
