NEARLY 200 Santas took to the streets of Skegness on Sunday for the town’s annual Santa Fun Run.

Doctor Who and Emmerdale legend Frazer Hines was on hand to start the race.

Hines is set to direct and star in the town’s Embassy Theatre pantomime - ‘Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs’, and the lucky winner of this year’s race bagged a family ticket for the show as reward for their athletical achievements.

A spokesperson for the local rotarians said: “Frazer entered into the spirit of the event and chatted to everyone.

“Ady Stennet was Mr Motivator with his music and support over the mike, encouraging everyone home with his individual style of banter.

“Thanks also to Skegness Mayor Steve Kirk and Mrs Kirk, who were with us throughout the event and handed out medals to the runners,” they added.

Money raised from this year’s race is still being counted. It will be allocated to local charities.

The winner of the race was Alan Wheeler, with Andy Shelton second and Sam Haywood in third. First woman home was Paula Holland from Skegness.
