Father Christmas will be arriving early in Skegness to help switch on the town’s festive lights .
It promises to be a very merry occasion at The Hildreds Shopping Centre on Thursday, November 26, with Santa rubbing shoulders alongside Skegness Mayor Carl Macey, Lincs FM breakfast presenter Rob Hammond, the Jolly Fisherman, and fellow special guest Wilbur Bear.
With attractions including reindeers pulling Father Christmas in the festive parade, magical Santa’s grotto and Beauty and the Beast, shoppers of all ages will be in for a seasonal treat.
The Skegness Musical Theatre Company, Skegness Silver Band and performers from the Lisa Jay Stage Institute with Skeggy the Viking will all provide entertainment on the night.
The Christmas Lights switch-on is organised by the Hildreds Centre, with support from the Skegness Partnership and Skegness Carnival.
Centre manager, Steve Andrews, said: “It will be brilliant, there will be so much going on for shoppers to enjoy.
He added: “Christmas is always an exciting time at The Hildreds. We’ve got a packed calendar of events planned in the run up to the big day, there’s going to be something for everyone.
“We’re encouraging local people and their families to come along and enjoy the festivities together.”
Lighting and sound will be supplied by Sound Works of Leicester and snow will be guaranteed thanks to special effects provided by Enterprises Unlimited.
The lights will be switched on at 7pm and Santa’s grotto opens 7.15pm on the night.
To avoid the queue bookings should be made at The Hildreds Centre in the week before the event.
Additional opening times during next month are Saturdays, 10am to 4pm, and Sundays, 11am to 3pm, and December 21, 22, 23 and Christmas Eve.
