Sand clean-up continues on Skegness and Mablethorpe promenades; Boston Borough Council helping in efforts

East Lindsey District Council (ELDC) staff are continuing in their efforts to remove thousands of tonnes of sand from coastal pathways following last week’s storm force winds - and Boston Borough Council is helping with the clean-up.

The inundation left many coastal paths swamped, and wrought havoc on residents who found their gardens buried by the shifting sands.

Today (Tuesday) ELDC gave an update on their ongoing efforts to tackle the disruption.

In a statement they said: “We continue with the sand clearance effort along the coast today.

“We’ve worked over the Bank Holiday to secure access to the main promenades in Mablethorpe and Skegness for emergency vehicles and for access to businesses.

“Many businesses have helped with their own sand clearance efforts, which is greatly appreciated.

“Today Boston Borough Council will be helping us and we also thank them,” they added.
