An auction of nearly 200 local seaside themed items went under the hammer recently.

Lots included illuminations which have lit up Skegness and Mablethorpe sea fronts and have delighted millions of visitors over the years.

The items were being sold by East Lindsey District Council after it has been decided to hand a contract for displays to a leading international company, that has lit the Eiffel Tower, amongst other notable commissions which are set to wow visitors to the coast this summer - a move they say will save them £100,00.

CJM Auctioneers who conducted the online auction said the response to the auction had been “tremendous”, with the majority of lots sold, as over 150 people from across the UK and Europe had registered their interest to buy their very own piece of seaside nostalgia.

Buyers ranged from illuminations providers and other seaside resorts, to restorers of vintage illuminations and private collectors.
