THE ROTARY Club of Alford & Mablethorpe has been honoured for their efforts to help people in disaster zones.
ShelterBox, the worldwide international relief charity, have given the club members a silver award for having sponsored over 50 ShelterBoxes.
ShelterBox was founded by the Rotary 11 years ago. It has dispatched volunteers and lifesaving tents and equipment to almost 200 natural or man-made disasters in over 75 different countries. It helps 50,000 families a year.
Club president, Jim Needley, said: “I am delighted with ShelterBox’s recognition of our efforts, none of which would have been possible without the outstanding generosity of the population of Alford, Mablethorpe, Sutton on Sea and our surrounding areas. We will continue to support communities.”
Shelterboxes contain vital goods and equipment.
