Reverend Ruth has a clear message and a trick or two
Ruth played basketball for England for three years when a teenager, then trained as a nurse and then as a journalist, supplementing her wages by being a clown and magician at children’s parties before deciding to train as an Anglican priest in 1989 and was ordained in 1994.
She is now a regular contributor to the Pause For Thought slot on Christ Evans’ Radio 2 breakfast show.

Hide AdHer talk, The Power of Imperfection, also the title of her latest book, was inspired by her work around the world which she calls ‘conflict transformation’.
Members were shown slides of people that Ruth had met in different locations around the world, all of whom had been the perpetrators or the recipients of appalling atrocities in their life and had turned their experiences around.
Ruth ended her thought provoking talk with a flashback to her clowning days by performing a fire-eating act which was certainly a change from the norm.
