Places for volunteers to participate in a public counter terrorism exercise in Skegness have been filled.

The All Communities Together 2 (ACT2) counter terrorism event is taking place at the Storehouse, North Parade on Wednesday, February 11.

It is being organised to give the public the chance to understand the decisions police have to make in response to a terrorist attack and how agencies and communities can work together to defeat the threat.

Participants will be thrust into the fictitious town of Sandford and faced with a situation where a terrorist incident is about to or has taken place. Decisions made by the attendees will shape the way the incident is investigated and how it impacts on the community and families of those arrested. They will also consider media coverage.

The event has been organised by PCSO Dave Bunker, from Skegness Neighbourhood Policing Team.

PCSO Bunker said: “I would like to pass on my thanks to all who have showed an interest in this event. I have sent out confirmation e-mails to all who applied to attend. On the day of the event we will be publishing counter terrorism awareness messages throughout the day and hopefully live from the event.”
