An open meeting is to be held to discuss the future of Skegness’ Pier Field site.
Earlier this month, East Lindsey District Council agreed to list the site as an ‘Asset of Community Value’ and to put it onto the open market.
It followed a campaign from the Save Our Foreshore Group, launched in response to plans to sell the council-owned land for a hotel development.
The decision meant the Save Our Foreshore Group now has a limited time in which to express an interest in relation to the acquisition of the site, in line with the Localism Act 2011.
In light of that, it has organised an open meeting for members of the public to discuss their ‘wishes and dreams’ for the area.
Ideas to date include the design and construction of an amphitheatre stage, dubbed ‘The Shell’, which could be designed by local design students, engineers or architects in the form of an open competition or by a known artist.
The meeting takes place on Tuesday at 7pm in the Imperial Ballroom, Grosvenor House Hotel, North Parade, Skegness PE25 2TE.
Alternatively, ideas can be sent via email to email@example.com or in writing to Save Our Foreshore Committee, c/o The Grosvenor House Hotel at the above address.
