Conservative party chairman David Andrews has taken the Tetford and Donington ward in the heart of the Lincolnshire Wolds with 480 votes.
Daniel Simpson, a Lincolnshire Independent candidate in yesterday’s General Election has to settle for second with 426 votes.
It was a Tory victory in Wragby too as Nick Guyatt took 731 votes to beat Independent Philip Grimes with 582 votes.
And it was a Conservative win in Spilsby too where Rod Williams won with 538 votes.
He said: “I can’t believe it.
“I was hopeful but you can never be sure. It’s absolutely brilliant.”
He promised to boost business and employment before adding: “That’s the theory anyway.”
