Councillor numbers could be reduced


Lincolnshire County Council could be set to lose six ward councillors by 2016.

At a meeting of the full council it was decided to recommend that the number of councillors fall from 77 to 71.

Under the proposals voted on by county councillors on Friday, December 19, East Lindsey and Lincoln could lose two seats while 
South Kesteven and West Lindsey will lose one each. Boston will not lose any councillors.

Every division will still have at least one councillor.

The border commission will be sent a report on the decision early next year and following that it will put its report to parliament in the summer of 2016.
