Council looks at budget

SKEGNESS town councillors discussed the annual budget in its second of four meetings at a recent full council meeting.

The council approved, as a starting point, the operational budgets that had previously been discussed at a Business and Resources meeting and it recognised there are some points still to be sorted out at a detailed level which could change figures. Councillors approved the earmarked reserves for £224,501 which may be subject to change in the final approval at a meeting on December 7.

The reserves were put aside for the maintenance of the Sunshine Play Area, the town plan, legal fees, among other things.

The final decision about allotment fees and charges will be decided at a final meeting in December.

The council also agreed that ‘it aspires to have a zero per cent increase in its precept subject to final approval’. The next budget discussion will be at a Direction and Strategy meeting on November 22.
