£3,500 windfall for local groups

Local groups within the Standard’s patch have received a combined £3,500 windfall from East Lindsey district councillors in the latest round of councillor community initiative grants.

Biggest winners were the Burgh Sports and Playing Field Association and the Croft Parish Council, who each received £1,00.

Cllr Neil Cooper gave the cash to the Burgh Sports and Playing Field Association towards the development of new changing facilities.

And Cllr Pauline Cooper gave Croft Parish Council its four-figure award for use towards the costs of a fridge, freezer and cooker as part of the village hall refurbishment.

Elsewhere, Skegness Scarbrough ward councillor Ken Milner gave £500 to Skegness Community Youth Centre towards rent and equipment, and Wainfleet & Friskney councillor Kevin Smith gave £500 to Boston and District Athletic Club to buy sports hall equipment.

There were also £250 hand-outs to Hundleby Parish Council from councillors James Hopkins to buy a digital projector, and to Halton Holegate Methodist Chapel from local councillor Jim Swanson towards the cost of replacement doors.
