Lincolnshire Police has issued a few tips to help residents be mindful of the issue of doorstep crime to recognise Older Person’s Day today.

The police are using Older Person’s Day (October 1) to highlight the issue as rogue traders and distraction criminals target the more vulnerable in the community and that can include older people.

Police advise individuals always look to see who is calling before they answer the door.

“If you have any concerns at all we recommend that you don’t open the door in the first instance. If you do answer the door you could consider using a chain,” they said.

If anyone is suspicious of any caller, they are advised to call the police on 101.
