The grand gardens at Gunby Hall acted as the stage and the home the backdrop for an open air theatre showing of The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes.
Almost 300 visitors took along picnic blankets and chairs, as corks popped and snacks were shared around ahead of the production brought by Lincoln theatre company Chapterhouse.
A spokesman for Gunby Hall said: “The six talented actors put on a funny, captivating performance that left all spectators guessing till the end ‘who dunnit’. With humorous dialogues, fast pace action and an imaginative set, the audience was entertained throughout.”
Thanks to record ticket sales, the evening was also a resounding commercial success for the National Trust property.
There will be another chance to enjoy open air theatre at Gunby on August 22, when Chapterhouse brings The Secret Garden . The show starts at 4pm and gates open at 3pm.
