Riders from far and wide will be heading on the highway to attend Spilsby Bike Night.

Around 1,000 motorcycles are expected to be on show in the town for the annual event on Tuesday, May 19.

Now in its seventh year, the bike night attracts motorcyle club members from across the region and beyond.

The town is set to be jam-packed with an array of mechanical marvels from vintage classics to modern super bikes, scooters, trikes and quads.

Trials motorcycle champion Emma Bristow, from Alford, is set to wow the crowds again with a daredevil display along with high-ranking boyfriend James Fry.

Biketrial cycle world champion Adam Morewood will also be back in action, with the teenage sensation tackling a specially-created obstacle course.

Bike night organisers Peter and Lisa McDowell, of Wildmans Motorcycles, have seen the event go from strength to strength since launching in 2009.

Peter said: “There will be a carnival atmosphere with great entertainment and amazing motorcycle displays.”

Bikes are expected to start rolling into town from about 5pm with the two-wheeled fun continuing to 10pm.

Local band The Tuesdays will be providing musical entertainment with several of the town’s shops staying open throughout the evening to cater for the crowds.

Collections will be taking place on the night for the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance. The event has raised thousands of pounds for the charity over the years, chosen for its importance to bikers injured on the county’s isolated rural roads.

Visitors arriving by car are advised to use the Post Office Lane car park.

Spilsby Mayor Peter Grant said: “I think the bike night will be even bigger and better this year with more motorcycles than ever, it just seems to grow and grow.

“It brings a lot of people into Spilsby, provides good business for traders and help puts the town on the map. The organisers put so much into the event and everyone enjoys it.”
