Packed meeting despite icy conditions

The Spilsby branch of the Royal British Legion got off to a great start for the year with a packed meeting in January despite freezing temperatures.

Members met at The Red Lion pub in Spilsby on Wednesday, January 16, to discuss the year ahead and wished all a Happy New Year.

The White Hart Inn has been booked for the branch’s Annual Sausage and Mash event to help celebrate St George’s Day on Saturday, April 20, from 6.30pm for 7pm, tickets cost £6 for members and £12 for visitors.

Another date for the Spilsby branch’s diary is the Garden Party which will be held at Toad Hall in Candlesby this year.

The event is set to be held on Sunday, July 21 at 2pm.

“We look forward to welcoming back the Mareham Le Fen Silver Band who will be playing during the afternoon,” said a spokesperson.

It was also suggested, during the recent meeting, that the branch arrange a trip to Harrogate to visit the Stonefall Regional War Cemetery, with more details to be confirmed.

The Spilsby RBL branch website is also now available at where details of forthcoming events and details will be updated regularly.

The next branch meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 20, at the Red Lion in Spilsby at 7.30pm.

Mr Raymond Glynne-Owen will be giving a short presentation during the second half of the evening and everyone is welcome to attend.
