Outcry at state of public toilets

FILTHY public toilets at Spilsby market place have provoked the anger of several town councillors.

Following complaints from residents, councillors carried out inspections of the facilities and were appalled by the condition they found them in.

Coun Trevor Beaumont said: “I was there in the middle of the day and it was filthy again - they don’t seem to be able to keep it clean.”

Coun Julia Pears was also disgusted at the lack of hygienic cleaning facilities in the main area for visitors to the town.

East Lindsey District Council is responsible for maintaining the toilets but Coun Jim Swasnon pointed out that it was not a statutory obligation and suggested that the town council might take over the running.
