Residents in Skegness are being warned of a new scam operating in the area.
PCSO Bunker has visited a “vulnerable” person who was allegedly called by someone from the bank, asking for money to be moved from one account to another.
In a tweet he warned: “Banks will never phone asking for money to be moved into another account.”
The warning comes minutes after your reporter was called by someone allegedly from the government, claiming I was being rewarded with a £1,000 grant for always paying my taxes. I was asked to give my bank details or call another number quoting a reference number to request a cheque.
Investigations on the website found warnings that is a scam, with claims by people who were also called by a woman with a “heavy accent” offering the same grant.
Fortunately, I was once given some very valuable advice - “If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.”
Anyone who believes they may be victim of a scam should call 101.
