A deal has been struck by East Lindsey District Council over the future of illuminations in Skegness.
The executive board at East Lindsey District Council last Tuesday decided to appoint Blachere Illumination UK Ltd as contractor for summer illuminations in Skegness and Mablethrope.
The contract, worth£175,172.80, is subject to satisfactory completion of recommendations with regard to staffing.
The contractor will provide continuous delivery of illuminations with the award of the three-year deal to realise savings and ensure the illuminations remain an important visitor experience. A spokesman for the council said the contract brought about a saving of £65,000 over the three years. They said the deal also represented a much bigger saving as the council’s own lights were at the end of their shelf life and were in need of replacement. They added the new modern lights would also feature interactive displays.
