Brave blokes went through the pain barrier enduring a sponsored hair wax at a fundraising night in Spilsby.
Members of Storm UK Martial Arts and Come and Play Toddler Group dreamt up the Man vs Wax event as a way of uniting two community groups and provide valuable funds for equipment they need.
The night, entitled ‘Wax On Wax Off,’ got off to a ripping start at 7.30pm when the queue of sponsored men folk began to gather. The waxers for the evening had their work cut out, and worked tirelessly through until 10pm making sure that all the hairy men folk were a little less hairy.
The event combined with a raffle, bar and disco, was held at the Franklin Hall where Storm UK Spilsby train, and next door to the Come and Play Groups’ meeting room.
The current total stands at £878.70p with both groups will receive half each. The total may rise further as there is still around £100 of sponsor money to come in
Storm UK club secretary Gemma Holland said: “We are a non profit organisation and martial arts equipment can be expensive to purchase and replace. Our next purchase is to buy specialised equipment for the younger members as some are just four years old and they require items made for little hands and feet and we would also like to purchase some crash mats to use during classes.”
Judith Coe, from Come and Play toddler group, said: “The money raised will go towards a multi sensory soft play package for our church based toddler group. We offer activities, fun, friendship and support to families with babies and young children locally, this money will be gladly welcomed.”
